BIOGRAPHY
Miriam Rawson, formerly Miriam Gourley was born in Alamosa, Colorado, in the early 50's. She grew up on a ranch, which was located about seven miles north of the New Mexico border. As a consequence, her family often drove down into Northern New Mexico, to Taos, Velarde, and Santa Fe, on family outings. She grew to love this region of our country, and loves the wonderful adobe buildings that dot that landscape. Her mother is an artist; her father a carpenter, and she learned to love creating things at an early age.

As an adult, Miriam bought a sewing machine, and revived her earlier interest of sewing and crafting. As children came into her home, fueled by her desire to stay home and raise them, she began a home business, creating a pattern line and doing work for various fabric companies and other clients. As time went on, she started writing crafting and sewing books, and working at a small craft store doing the displays and floral designs.

Miriam is still doing display work for Roberts crafts, in Washington, Utah (near St. George). She is currently in the process of designing a new line of fabric for Benartex fabrics, a division of Bernina of America. She creates new patterns for her Fabric Folk business, as well as for showroom models, displayed at trade shows and in the showrooms in New York, for Marcus Brothers Textiles and other clients. She also is an avid painter, preferring to work with oils.

With all that, she says her best creations are her four children, and she is grateful for the blessings of having wonderful daughters-in-law, a son-in-law, and grandchildren, loving parents and siblings, as well as a good man to love and a job she enjoys.
